Teaching and Correcting

Today, I have started this blogging thing. I have sat through numerous classes at a Theologically minded Liberal Arts College in Iowa, and decided to start writing down the thoughts that cross my mind while I am in class.

Thoughts on Theo 254:
After reading the introduction and first chapter of Paulo Feire's Pedagogy of Freedom, the discussion that followed brought forth thoughts of how education is meant to work in the current system. The American educational system of schooling has been and still is about manufacturing passive, docile, unthinking, consumers who are trained in the system of economic gain and risk without a outlet for wrestling with the truth of their place in the world. True education, according to Freire, happens in the dialog between teacher and student...

OK so I am in a Beth Moore Bible Study of Daniel and we are studying the same theme as your discussion. 'Friendly captivity' or 'Babylonism': survival of the fittest, smartist, richest. She talks about how we are all brain-washed into believing what is the best, smartist or cool. What do you think? Same idea huh?
